Newborn girl :: Eve

April 28, 2016

Newborn girls are my favourites.  I love the colours and the headbands and lace.  Sugar and spice and all that fun stuff!  This little gal not only has the most adorable name but was such a perfect little model.  She even let us dress her up like a cow!

Ok so that wasn’t me but I went along with it.  Apparently when daddy found out he was having a girl decided a cow ‘outfit’ would be so cute. Really?!?! Your first instinct as a parent is to buy a cow costume?!?! If I didn’t know these two have an amazing sense of humour it might have gotten really awkward in the studio.

These guys made the trip all the way from Guelph which to me is a huge compliment.  Thank you for trusting me to capture these first moments and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Eve.  Costumes and all!

The Rossnagle Family

January 7, 2014

Fall photography is like nothing I ever expected.  I had no clue that I would get so many calls to do family photos in the leaves.  Nor did I ever pay attention to when the leaves started to change colour each year. Then again this whole photography thing has made me open my eyes to a lot of things I never paid attention to.  Like the direction of the sun, hight of trees, shade, shadows, foliage, randomly parked cars, rocks… you get the picture.  Just went through life with my eyes half open.  My mother used to see the beauty in the leaves and nature but I just thought she was crazy.  ‘It’s just a tree’ I would say when she would name them.  Most famous tree of all was the Christo’fur’ tree.  If you don’t get it… just think a little harder.

When Lorysa said her family was going to be in town and she wanted to book her session it was still summer.  She wanted a fall time slot. No problem I thought. My schedule is wide open.  Good thing she contacted me early because the closer it got the more calls that came in. I didn’t realize how popular fall was for family sessions.

I love shooting families.  Dynamics are so different and you never know if your going to get a close knit family or one that smiles because I told them to.  Not the Rossnagles.  These guys were fun and willing to try anything.  I just love that.  Oh and when I say get close they snuggle right in.  Wish all all families were this close! I walked away from this session with a big smile on my face.

Baby Gia

December 4, 2013

Newborn photography is fun.  Babies don’t scare me anymore.  Never thought the day would come but I actually don’t worry about legs falling off or barf all over.  Funny how we grow up. Live and learn I guess.

Baby Gia is the one that made me realize all this.  Yes she pooped and obviously it got on my hand, but I didn’t pass out.  Shocking right?!?!?! Poop and me don’t get along. It makes me feel all sorts of sick.  Not this time.

Think of all the possibilities now that I have conquered my fear!

I however haven’t gotten past the fact that babies look like other people – parents, siblings, the milkman (just kidding – old school joke). Once I start editing I can see expressions and facial features similar to others and in this case it’s her older brothers.  She looks just like Carson in my opinion but then there were a couple shots that she looked just like Logan.  So weird! In all instances these kids look just like their father. Just check his Instagram and Facebook. Maybe when she’s a bit older we will see more of her beautiful mom.  Can’t wait to capture more of these moments with you guys!
