Family :: Marshall

September 6, 2021

York Region Photographer – specializing in family, maternity and newborn

There is a season between summer and fall that I love. Technically it’s fall, but it’s early fall when leaves haven’t changed yet. I agree the fall colours are gorgeous, but I love my greens. Like really love them.  So during this brief change of seasons, I try to book as many sessions as possible. The golden glow, the soft breeze, the perfect combo of everything that makes families happy.

There is a spot I found one day when I was wandering. No I’m not one to hike or even go for walks, but when I’m out, my head is on a swivel.  Just ask my husband about my rubber necking when we drive. There are so many potential spots for sessions, just requires some imagination and a little trust.  This location is just that.  Off the beaten path, but totally worth the extra effort. These logs, the sun poking through behind, the dirt path and the tree lined road that takes you there. I’m dying to go back.

Love this location? Book your session now! Click HERE

Maternity Session :: Sandy and Rakesh

February 12, 2021

Maternity Photographer – Richmond Hill

So how cute are these two? I love doing maternity sessions and remember the excitement when I did my own. We don’t necessarily feel at our best, but the excitement of adding to the family shows. I never believed in a pregnancy glow per sey, but I do believe that the love a family has for their child shows through.  With maternity sessions being focused on the bump, it really brings that out.  The sweet smiles, the excitement, the laughter. It really does make parents glow.

This family was awesome to work with. It felt like old friends, yet we just met. Their sweet demeanour made me wish the night wouldn’t end. That and we had the best light lol.  You know me and my golden light!

Can’t wait to meet their little one. I just know I’m going to fall in love!

Update: He is the cutest ever! Check out his session Here.

Family Session :: McNalley

March 30, 2017

Family Photographer based in North York Ontario

Family Sessions with older kids can go one of two ways. Teens and pre-teens tend to have their minds made up about how uncool taking photos with their parents is.  Fair, I was that way at one time.  However, this little family was amazing and it shows. One of the images from this session even made me cry!

One of my favourite parts of being a photographer is meeting people and getting to know them.  It can be a lonely job when you don’t have any coworkers but I have the most amazing clients which makes up for it.  Sometimes, like this one, I feel a connection I can’t explain.  Trish reminded me of someone special to me. The sweetness and general adoration for her kids is indescribable.  I know everyone loves their kids but for some reason it affected me differently.

Mounter Family Session

March 29, 2017

I’ve never had a family session with these guys until now, but worked with Oreon on a number of projects both in photography and in the event industry.  When I started this little business (on the side), I would shoot events mostly, and quite a few were with him. Such a sweet guy and so glad he finally booked with me for his personal session.  I’ve seen his family grow through Facebook and and images we’ve shared with each other over the past couple years.  There are so many photographers out there that every time someone chooses me it makes my heart just a little bit happier especially when those people are in the same industry!

Family sessions are an honour because clients are trusting me to capture the most important thing in their lives. Their families.  I get to leave my mark in a families history and capture them in the moment.  Looking back at my own family photos, the ones where I was 4 and had that nasty bowl cut my mom said was ‘So cute’, I see how much I have grown, my old toys and friends, pets, houses, family members and so on. Guess I’m a sucker for memories.  So to be given the honour is kind of a big deal for me.

These guys were a total dream, sweetest, well behaved kids ever!  And ya, FREAKING adorable!!!! Parents aren’t too bad either.  This session is one of my favourites to date and really glad I could be a part of capturing this time for them.

Harris Family Session

March 29, 2017

Family Sessions are my fave. I get to see a side of parents I don’t normally see. I know the online version, I know the ones I talk to on the phone, but when you meet and see them with their kids it’s totally different.  Crazy how ‘littles’ change us all!

When Ashleigh booked her session she knew what she wanted, did her research and loved what she saw.  Amazing right! That’s what I want for all my clients. To be excited for their session and to have my images on their walls.  Then I found out both her and her husband are in the creative industry. Talk about pressure!  Some families just want updated photos on their walls or to share with family, but when you know what you want and have expectations and an eye for it…..total game changer! Whatever the reason for your session I want my families to love the final images and I suck with pressure (pressure I create in my own head – I’m sooooo good at that).  I just do what I love and hope they do too.

Quite smitten with the whole session.  Conquered a little bit of fear I guess.  Granted with such sweet little boys, who behaved better than most, and cute easy going parents, my job was easy.  Too easy. Still I love these images and wish I had similar ones on my wall now.  Time to book our own session I think!

Michelle and Mike :: 10 Years

July 3, 2016

Family photography isn’t what it used to be.  You don’t need an occasion to have a session.  There doesn’t have to be a landmark in your lives. You can capture memories because you want to.  Crazy notion these days…because you want to.

Michelle and Mike happen to be celebrating 10 years together but simply wanted some updated photos of their family.  I love when people just want to celebrate being in love.  No agenda or need to capture anything other than who they are at that moment. I wish more people did this.  You don’t need children or fancy events in order to have professional photography.  You can do it just because you want to.  We captured some insanely stunning images and to be honest, I’m jealous.  I want some of these of my family.  Wish selfies with my camera were easier lol.  I have a remote but trying to get a small child and dog to look at it from afar is next to impossible. Probably impossible but I’m trying to stay positive.

When I initially received their email and they said they saw my bucket list and wanted to include Roxy, their fur baby, I couldn’t have been happier.  I love pets even though they don’t always cooperate.  They just add something extra to the session that makes the final images that much more sweet.  Roxy nailed it though.  She’s definitely a keeper!

Landon :: 6 Months Session

June 9, 2016

6 month milestone photography is bigger than you think.  I met Landon when he was just a newborn.  He still sort of looks the same but still sort of looks totally different! Kids really do grow fast and I try to stress to my clients how important capturing these moments are.  The things they do and learn in just a short time frame are so easy to forget.  You think you will remember when they started sitting but the second they can stand that memory gets bumped back. It’s true, I learn the hard way every day!

With that said, these sessions are perfect to capture their little personalities. The 6 month milestone is kind of a big deal.  The facial expressions kill me!  Gummy smiles, moments of annoyance with us for trying to pose them, and candid laughter of parents.  These are the things we don’t alway notice every day let alone capture as a memory for an album or our walls.  We all strive for the perfect family photo but if there is anything I have learned since having my daughter is those random photos that you didn’t think were all that great at the moment are actually the ones you look back on and smile at.  The ones that captured your family naturally in the moment.

Looking forward to more smiles from this guy in years to come!

Family Session :: The Favaretto’s

July 10, 2015

Sunset Sessions are full of gorgeous light and produce a glow you can’t ‘fake’ in post production. Oh Mother Nature how I love when you play nice.  Such a love/hate relationship we have! Ok so maybe it had a little to do with how adorable they are as a family. Combine the two and you get some insanely gorgeous family photos. So much so I want someone to do the same session for me.  Something about using a tripod and trying to get my daughter and husband to look at the same time that just isn’t the same.  We have tried multiple times and end up with some ridiculous outtakes.  Not so many ‘wall worthy’ images though.

Something about the glow in this type of session makes me want to do every shoot at this time of day.  Then again, the mosquitos are ridiculous in the evening.  No matter how much repellant I put on, how much swinging and swatting of the arms goes on I just can’t get out of a session without at least 10 bites.  Would it be crazy if I had an assistant who’s sole job was to protect me from those little ba#$%^&*????? They are like the flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz but Mother Natures version.  UGH.  I knew she wasn’t actually cooperating. I really do try to see the best in everyone LOL.

Family :: Charlie’s First Birthday Session

July 10, 2015

Family photography can have it’s challenges. I know several photographers who have sworn off it altogether.  I have a soft spot for families though. You get everything in one session! Parents to do cute couples pics, kids to do some fun ones and then everyone together. Those can be the toughest for people but in my eyes no matter what is happening they are probably the most genuine.  Parents laughing at the little ones (or giving them a ‘certain’ look), kids with toys in their mouth or their huge toothless grin…. I could go on. As much as we all want the perfect family portrait with everyone looking at the camera and smiling, it’s those more candid ones that make it on the walls and on the holiday cards.

This is Charlie’s first birthday.  How can someone only 1 be so adorable. Honestly,  I could have eaten him!  Not going to lie, he has language all his own that could rival my daughters so I felt a little extra attached to these guys!  I’m pretty sure if we put the two of them in a room it would be nothing short of amazing to watch.  Hey if there are successful reality shows about people who hunt ducks then these two should have no trouble getting a tv deal.

Szames Family :: Sunset Session

May 21, 2015

This summers newest edition is the Sunset Sessions.  Yes it helps to have a sickeningly cute family but the golden glow that you get just before the sun goes down can turn your family photo into a beautiful piece of art. The light is warm which gives you those stunning images everyone wants.

It’s been a really long time since these guys had a family session.  Too long if you ask me! I tell clients they should do a family session at least once a year.  Everyone changes and grows (especially kids) so quickly that missing even one year can make a difference. Before you know it the kids are off to college and you don’t fit your skinny jeans anymore!  Oh the good old days.

I have a feeling these Sunset Sessions are going to a huge hit this summer.  Who doesn’t love the calm at the end of a day right before night.  Especially when it means the kids go to bed soon.  Not that any of us are watching the clock.
