Milestone Session :: Sebastian

Milestone sitter sessions are quickly becoming some of my favourite sessions. There is just the right element of cuteness and unpredictability. These little ones let their true personality shine and I can tell within minutes if we are going to get a work out of if parents are going to have a hard time choosing their images.

Sebastian is the sweetest little man. He was so cooperative and calm it almost seemed too easy. Usually, we are up and down, left and right, fixing blankets and props. I literally could have done 15 set ups with this guy and not even broken a sweat. His sweet demeanour just made my heart melt. That and his thighs. I love chubby thighs!!! And those lashes…. OMG those lashes. Because what girl doesn’t desire long lashes!

Milestones are a great way to capture all the little details of babies after then learn to sit. Between 4 and 6 months are the best time and give us the most options for props and posing. We all think about milestones being the ‘big’ ones meaning newborn and first birthday, but the time in-between is also momentous. These little ones learn to sit, crawl and even walk. When you look back, wouldn’t you love to have captured these moments too?!?!

First Birthday Session

Milestone sessions are great for babies one and under. They capture moments we are so proud of, and as a mom, these images remind me of so many moments around this time in my kids lives. It’s great to see how much our children have grown in a year.. These sessions are great for 1st birthday’s and can be a great alternative to the typical cake smash. Whether you opt to use one of the studio outfits or bring your own, these are an amazing way to document your little one.

As a photographer, I love the little feet and hands, the little lashes and all the faces they make. Even if the set up is similar, each family is sure to get unique images as no two children are alike. We are able to capture their mood, their adorable little features and ultimatly the little person they are becoming. Who doesn’t love the crazy faces our kids make.

This first birthday session was just that. Lots of personality and lots of gorgeous images!

Milestone Sessions

Milestone sessions capture those moments where your little one can hold their head up, sit on their own and learn to stand. These are moments we want to remember and that really go by in a flash. Babies aren’t babies and are growing into themselves. Little rolls, chubby cheeks, giant grins and tiny hands and feet.

Each baby develops differently so it’s hard to say what month you should schedule your session. Some things to look for is your little one holding their head up while on their tummy for minimum of 10 seconds consecutively without bobbing or tipping. Some kids can do this at 3 months and some at 4 months. Once you baby has mastered this you should book your session.

Another great time is when they can sit on their own. They should be able to hold themselves up without any aids and with minimal tipping over. This stage is when you can get those adorable photos of your baby on their back grabbing their toes and giggling. They are quick to laugh and make the best faces for the camera. Probably my favourite time!

Lastly, the one year mark is a great way to complete the set of images in your babies first year. These sessions can incorporate some of your little ones favourite things. They have begun to develop their own personality and you can customize their session to make it truly them.

First newborn of 2022!

It feels like forever since I had a baby in the studio to snuggle. It feels like forever since I had my own kids and holding clients babies reminds me how fast they grow. These tiny little people are so sweet and steal my heart every time. Makes me want to have my own. Then I remember I can’t send them back when they have a dirty diaper or are crying. Guess this is why they say it’s so great being a grandparent lol.

The studio is open with limited spaces for upcoming newborns and milestone sessions. In an effort to keep the studio as clean and sanitized as possible I am limiting how many clients I bring in per month. It is best to book early to ensure I have space. Cake Smash :: Chloe

Cake smash sessions bring out all sorts of emotions in us moms. They are freaking cute, a sign your little one is a year old, messy and even a tad stressful. They are always fun and even more so when your little one dives right in. You would be shocked how many kids don’t jump at the chance to fill their faces with cake. Maybe the texture, maybe the audience….maybe the sugar. BUT when a little one sees it as the opportunity of a lifetime there is nothing like it!

First birthdays are always fun. Whether you choose to do a family session or cake smash session, they are always special. The first year goes by so fast and is the perfect time to capture this time in your little ones life. I think that’s the one thing we never get until we are in the moment. How fast they grow and change. You see them every day and it doesn’t hit you until there is a milestone like this. Whether you choose to do a cake smash or something more traditional, don’t miss this epic time in your little ones life!

I have been photographing this family forever it feels like. I’ve been there to capture their newborns, milestones and holidays. These are my people! The bonds I have with my clients are really important to me and it’s always an honour when we work together. Being there for these special moments is honestly the best feeling.

I love snuggling babies and even more so when I have a connection to the family. When I found out mom was pregnant I was just about as excited when I found out I was having my own. Besides the fact that they make cute kids, they are the sweetest and trust my vision. When a client knows your work and says to do whatever you want, it is the best feeling. No pressure lol, but being creative and having so many ideas, it is a really great thing to hear. I’ve been dying to play with fruit and a newborn session and so glad we did. Super obsessed with these!

I’d love to try lemons or blueberries. Maybe this year….Who wants join me?!

It’s a small world. I had no clue when this family contacted me that we actually live behind each other. Close enough that they can hear my crazy kids splashing in the pool all summer. Probably heard me telling the kids no to scream so much too! Anyone with daughters know that high pitch screech they do randomly. I’m sure the whole neighbour hood has heard me begging them to stop making that ear piercing sound. Anyway, it was great to officially meet this family and their newest addition.

With Covid, I have limited the number of newborn and milestone sessions I offer. We have been taking it seriously and especially with little ones, I want to be able to air out the studio and clean the props as best as possible. I feel like I haven’t had baby snuggles in so long and could have just cuddled this little lady forever!

Sitter Session :: Sklylar

Sitter session

This little lady made us work for it during her sitter session. Sometimes kids think I’m hilarious and other times they look at me like I have 3 heads. This gal wasn’t having any of our tricks. Ok so maybe we got her to crack a smile or two, but talk about a workout!

As parents we want our kids to smile and do the cute things they do, but once you get into the studio they have other plans. Suddenly their favourite song isn’t. Suddenly mom’s crazy faces aren’t so hilarious. Suddenly they make their parents look like liars because they swore they have the happiest kid ever. I’ve been on the other side. I have taken my kids to get their photos done and I know exactly what parents are feeling and what kids are going to do. Luckily we always get a few smiles and in the process capture some of the other faces and mannerisms that make each child unique.

Skylar may have made us work for it, but I’m pretty sure we won!

Mississauga Newborn Photographer

This little family is one of my faves. I photographed their wedding (yes I do weddings too) and now their little Muggle. Yes that’s a Harry Potter reference and you will know why if you keep scrolling.

It’s such an honour to be there for these milestones in a couples lives. You almost feel like best friends in the sense that you play a roll in big moments like marriage and starting a family. It’s kinda crazy to me! If you think about it, you don’t go to all your friends weddings, you meet them after they are married or before kids and therefor don’t get to celebrate these things.

I knew these two were going to ask me to incorporate Harry Potter into their session, but I had no idea how many things they would bring to tell the story. When parents say they are bringing props I usually cringe a little for the fact that I have no clue what they will look like. I’m a big fan of things looking real. Like metal/wood vs plastic and so on. So…. I had no clue what I was in for but so glad they totally nailed it!
