Their music is a mixture of country, punk, big band, swing, and rockabilly, all played really loud and with the energy to match. These guys are like nothing I have ever seen before and certainly rocked the house when they played at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. The crowd was a mix of every type of person you could imagine. There were hippy types, leather clad rockers, college students, middle age men, frat boys and even heavy metal fans. At one point my camera was head banged (is that even how you say it?!?!) right into my face. Lesson learned…. Yes there are bars to keep fans away from the stage but that doesn’t mean you are totally safe…. keep one eye on the camera and one eye watching your back!
To add to the craziness, Crystal Ballroom has a bouncy floor. Ya, you heard me. It’s like boards with some weird rubbery stuff underneath and it acts like a little spring board. Trust me I bounced around before the show just to test it out! As you can imagine the fans were well aware of this feature and used it to the best of their ability! The venue and the band made this show one of a kind.
